As we gathered in the living room my father opened up his birthday present from my mother. It was two exquisite silk ties. With nary a thank you, he quietly slipped away to the bedroom. There he changed into a white shirt and put on a suit before he came back parading in front of us wearing one of the ties. Mom looked at his ensemble and then asked, “Don’t you like the other one?” 4025
