Pandemic of stings
Pandemic of stings
Pasadena Fire Department spokesperson Lisa Derderian reported that both fire and police were being attacked by 30,000-40,000 bees. A 911 call over someone getting stung by a bee spiraled into a wild situation. The fire department called in police to cordon off the bee-filled area, and responding officers also began getting stung. Responders used foam and CO2 extinguishers to disperse the bees. Some bees were killed, though Derderian wasn’t sure how many. A beekeeper called to the scene estimated they were Africanized, so called “killer” bees. Five people went to the hospital and several others declined treatment. Bee keepers will be checking the hotel walls, but no amount of honey was found.
