Lack of Communication
Primanti Brothers is a chain of sports bars/sandwich shops that is based in Pittsburgh with 42 locations in the eastern US. Kamala Harris ran a commercial about her stopping in the bar and encountering loving fans. J.D. Vance was on his bus tour in Pittsburgh and decided to stop in with the crew for lunch as well. The gang, reporters, photographers and all got off the bus in front of the restaurant and wanted to buy lunch. The lady manager panicked. Nobody had called her and she did not want another argument like what happened after the Harris drop in, so she told JD they could not come in. This got to be a problem because somebody had let leak JD would stop there (without telling the restaurant) and a bunch of local JD supporters were already inside sucking on their beers waiting for the candidate.
So now the media had a story: “The JD Vance was refused service at a Primanti Brother’s sports bar.” Saturday afternoon the manager of the store initially turned the campaign away – despite dozens of people waiting inside for a chance to meet the candidate. After being turned away at the door, Vance addressed disappointed and outraged supporters in a video posted to ‘X’. “The manager just freaked out a little bit because there were a lot of people and she didn’t want to make her restaurant part of another campaign commercial,” Vance said in the parking lot outside the 90-year-old business. “We went in there, we paid for everybody’s food, we gave the Primanti staff a nice tip, and of course when I gave them a nice tip I said, ‘No taxes on tips’,” Vance added. The junior senator from Ohio also made clear that Primanti Brothers is still on his good side and attempted to shield the small business from any ire. “It’s alright, don’t hold it against her, she just got a little nervous. But it’s a great local business, keep on supporting it, and most importantly, on November 5th go vote. Let’s go win this thing.”
Later, Primanti Brothers would invite Vance and his supporters to meet inside the restaurant and issued a statement in an attempt to avoid a conservative boycott. “Our doors are open to all patrons who wish to dine with us,” the restaurant statement reads. “Without any advance notice, today’s campaign stop caused some momentary confusion for our staff. However, Senator Vance and his team were welcomed into our restaurant shortly after and engaged with our guests inside and on the property.” Part of the panic was because when Harris and Walz stopped, the regular patrons of Primanti Brothers were forced to leave the premises before Harris and Walz would enter. Diners claimed that they were booted from their barstools so that the Harris-Walz campaign could bring in actors for a ‘staged’ photo-op full of supporters.
Sports bars
A football fan is guy who yells at the quarterback that cannot find the receiver 50 yards down the field and then goes to the bar and cannot find his own car.
Football is a game in which a handful of men run around for two hours watched by billions of people who really could use the exercise.
It is funny how my wife waits for me in the kitchen all night till I come back from the bar with my football buddies…
…just to ask me what time it is.
An avid Browns fan went to the corner pub with his dog. He had to do a lot of talking to convince the owner to allow the pup to stay in the bar while the game was on. The dog was well behaved during the game and mostly watched the TV and the bar patrons. In the fourth quarter the Browns kicked a field goal and the dog went nuts. He barked and jumped and wagged his tail and licked everyone. The bartender was impressed. He asked the owner, “What does that dog do when the Browns score a touchdown?” The owner explained, “I don’t know. I have only had him two years.”
