Virtuous Florida men

Florida men are family oriented and have a strong drive to reconnect with old friends, no matter where they are. Authorities in Indian River County, Florida, arrested a man Monday night after he allegedly tried to break into the county jail by ramming his car into the front door and then trying to climb a fence. 24-year-old Patrick Rempe, was arrested when he got tangled in the fence’s razor wire, according to WFTV.com in the video below. Even if Rempe managed to climb the fence, he would have had to scale another fence, and then get through a locked door at the building where his friends were housed. Police said he told them he was high on the synthetic drug flakka and just wanted to “visit friends who were in the jail.” Sheriff’s department officials estimate the damage to be at least $5,000. Rempe was taken into custody and treated for minor injuries.

Florida men can insist on service. Danny Konieczny was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after his neighbor reported him to be drunk and suicidal in his Lady Lake home. After waiting for two hours in the ER to see a doctor, Konieczny got frustrated and after being refused a ride home, decided to steal an ambulance to get home according, to Fox affiliate WOFL-TV. “You’re taken to the hospital because you’re drunk, and now you’re in the ambulance you’ve just stolen to go back to your house. This could have been bad.” Danny was not so intoxicated that he forgot to get even with the neighbor that kept calling police about him. Konieczny parked the ambulance in his neighbor’s driveway to get back at them. Danny was also alert enough to hide when the Lake County Sheriff began to investigate his neighborhood. He was found in the trunk of his car, inside his garage, according to the report. He was booked into the Lake County jail.

Florida men are conscientious: “Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a serious crime. Innocent people are too often injured or killed from impaired drivers. DUI is not a laughing matter,” sheriff’s officials wrote on Facebook. “However … in this particular incident, nobody was hurt, so we couldn’t help but LOTO (that means we Laughed Our Tasers Off).” Polk County sheriff dispatcher received an unusual 911 call.  Michael Lester, of Winter Haven, told the dispatcher that he was driving drunk, and needed to be pulled over.

Eventually, Lester parked his truck in the middle of the road until sirens were heard in the background a short time later. Deputies say that Lester admitted to drinking beers and said that he had only slept four hours in the past four days. He also reportedly admitted to swallowing methamphetamine earlier, instead of smoking it. Michael was arrested and charged with DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, improper use of the center lane, and not wearing a seatbelt.

These examples of conscientious citizen behavior are rare in most states.
