Anniversaries are meant to honor love and commitment. But for one Reddit user, a second wedding anniversary became a painful reminder of unequal effort. In her post, the 31-year-old wife described weeks of planning: “I spent weeks saving up to buy him a smartwatch he had been eyeing. I wrapped it nicely, cooked his favorite meal, and set up candles.” Her husband’s gift? A $100 gift card to his favorite gaming store. “He laughed and said, ‘We can both use it, since you watch me play all the time.’” For her, the gesture stung. “On our anniversary, my ‘gift’ was literally something for him,” she wrote. Spouses who do nice things for their partners are often showered with gratitude, but that isn’t always the case. Sometimes a spouse might not like a gift, or maybe they are just rude and ungrateful. One man in Mexico probably wasn’t expecting the reception he got when his wife caught a glimpse of the kind gesture he was working on for her. Juan was looking through some old computer devices. Among the files were some videos of Juan and his wife Leonora engaged in some very heavy duty physically, romantic behavior from much earlier days. He decided to copy the files to his cell phone. For some reason Leonora was looking through her husband’s phone and came upon the pictures. She grabbed a kitchen knife and attacked her husband stabbing him in his face, arms and legs.
After she was restrained, Juan asked her what was going on and she responded he was a” good for nothing, cheating spouse, etc.” Juan then explained that the woman on the phone she was jealous of was her 20 years before. According to the report his wife apparently did not recognize herself because she was younger, thinner and had makeup on. Juan is expected to be fine. Although Juan got Leonora to calm down, neighbors heard the fighting and called the police. When they arrived, they had Juan transported to the hospital and arrested Leonora. The victim was flown to a Modesto-area hospital for treatment. He has since been released. Jasmine was arrested and booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder. The couple’s two children were turned over to Child Protective Services.
