Police jobs are never boring

It seems a man in British Columbia had too much to drink. He knew he should not drive his car, but he needed some cigarettes. He really, really had to have some cigarettes. So he drove his daughter’s Barbie plastic jeep to the gas station. The Pink jeep was plastic and only four foot long so he thought he could not get a ticket for DUI. RCMP officers made the unusual traffic stop after the motorist was reported operating a pink (46-inch) Power Wheels Barbie Jeep Wrangler. Police said the risk for other drivers as they tried to avoid the open-topped toy car was sufficient to involve officers. Traffic had to go around him he could easily have been hit by a real car or truck.

Motorist steps ahead of police

Peel Regional Police were deluged with calls about a car driving the Queensway with a set of metal stairs attached to her car. The callers reported the steps were a ladder or a truck with stairs from the airport even the remains of any earlier airplane incident. Officers saw the car moving slowly in the traffic because the road was under construction and there a number of vehicles moving slowly through the intersection. The office did a U-turn at the next crossing and caught up with the woman. Smashing her car into the stairs had deployed her airbags which further made driving challenging.

The story police explained is that she was parked at a construction site of new buildings, when she went to leave she panicked and backed into the pre-fabbed stairs at a high rate of speed and could not get staircase off her car. She intended to drive the car home and have her husband remove the staircase. Her Mazda was pretty badly bent up from the impact, but the staircase seemed to be traveling pretty securely on the crumpled car. The 22 year old was charged with careless driving while waiting for tow trucks to separate the parts.

The Dark knight

The Cape Coral Florida Police Department responded to a home early Wednesday when they were caught off guard upon realizing someone else had beat them to it. Kyle Myvett told detectives he had gone to bed when his home security system alerted him to someone breaking into his vehicle. Kyle, in his Batman PJs, went to investigate and saw a man rummaging through his truck. Then the real-life Dark Knight then followed the suspect into his neighbor’s garage “and detained him until officers arrived,” according to the post. Batman told WSAZ that it was his wife who “noticed an alert on the phone.” That’s when — Wham! Bam! Pow! — he leapt into action.

Myvett recounted, “I grabbed a hold of their shirt and their right wrist, and I said, ‘Listen, don’t try to get away.’” Police identified the burglar as 20-year-old Justin Schimpl, who is known to authorities “from prior investigations.” Police determined Schimpl had broken into multiple vehicles, including Myvett’s, and stole designer sunglasses, a wallet and more than $500 worth of gift cards. Myvett admitted that he did leave his truck unlocked because his neighborhood is usually pretty calm. Batman told the press, “I don’t have Superman pajamas because if you’re impervious and invincible, you’re not really brave.” Schimpl, who is facing multiple burglary charges, was taken to Lee County Jail following his arrest.

Driving doosies

During a police lineup the detective told each man to step forward and repeat the threat given at the robbery, “give me all your money or I’ll shoot.” One man stepped out of line and yelled, “that’s not what I said.”

A woman in our town to the police department, “People are speeding on our street. Endangering the lives of children walking to school.” The next morning she herself was stopped for speeding. “But, officer,” she said, “I’m the person called yesterday to tell the police about the speeders.” “Well then, ma’am,” he replied handing her a ticket, “you should be really happy we caught one.”

I was pulled over in Massachusetts for reckless driving. When brought before the judge, I was asked if I knew what the punishment for drunk driving in that state was. I said, “I don’t know… reelection to the Senate?”
