Convicts flock back to Indonesia prison
While the inmates at the Sorong prison in Indonesia were building an office for the prison staff the place caught fire and about 270 inmates fled the compound. The situation worsened as outside, racial protesters spread the fire as part of their protest. Amazingly, after the fire was put out most of those prisoners came back on their own to prison. Many of these inmates were violent offenders, but why would anyone return to prison in a country with notoriously overcrowded and unsanitary jails? “We’ve always treated them well and they knew that running away was not a solution — it would only make things worse,” Prison spokesman Yuzar replied. “I really appreciate their willingness to come back to prison.”

In Scotland we have a verdict ‘not proven;’ that means ‘not guilty, but don’t do it again.’
