Life was pretty quiet at the “Friends For Life” animal shelter until the beginning of October. The shelter had taken over a recently unneeded school building and used some of the rooms as places to keep cats and kittens in a homey setting instead of cages and kennels. One morning in October the staff came in and the cats were roaming all around the building. Nothing broken, nothing missing, just wandering cats. They rounded up the felines and the next morning, the same thing-cats everywhere. One employee found the reason. It was Quilty a cat given up by an ailing woman. As staff watched from hiding, they saw Quilty jump up and pull the handicapped access door handle down until the door swung open and the cats were off to explore.
