Rad Cat
Bao Zi, an American shorthair cat, broke the record for the fastest 10 meters on a skateboard by a cat at the age of just 1 year and 8 months old. Bao Zi’s owner, professional dog trainer Li Jiangtao, said his original intention when he brought a cat home was to help with a rodent problem. “We had mice running around the ceiling at night, so I got Bao Zi to scare them away.” Jiangtao said he soon realized Bao Zi might have talents beyond mousing. “I’ve been training dogs for over a decade, and I started skateboarding with my own dog for fun. But Bao Zi showed a keen interest in skateboards, so I decided to nurture this behavior,” Jiangtao said.
“At six months old, Bao Zi had a daring “runaway” adventure. I searched the neighborhood for a week, thinking Bao Zi was gone for good, but the little adventurer came back on his own.” That’s when Li realized Bao Zi loved exploring the outdoors. If you’ve seen Bao Zi’s skateboarding videos, you’ll know he’s a bold and playful kitty. “Bao Zi loves it when I take him out for adventures. At home, he’s a lazy furball, but at the skatepark, he’s a different cat – confident and daring, weaving through crowds with ease,” says Li. Now Bao Zi recorded a Guinness World Record skateboarding distance of 32 feet, 9.2 inches (10 metres) in 12.85 seconds. Bao Zi can also perform a range of tricks, from sitting and shaking paws to playing dead, rolling over, jumping, climbing, going through hoops, pressing doorbells, pushing rolling barrels, and even dribbling a basketball. But skateboarding took the longest – an entire year of training.
This unique bond led Li to delve into cat behavior training. To date, he has trained 13 cats to use the toilet, complete with flushing! “Actually, it’s quite challenging to train a cat, because they don’t learn things as quickly as dogs do,” he told the media. “Dogs make improvements day by day and they remember it. As for cats, they can learn a trick, and then forget it the next second.” Jiangtao said his experience teaching Bao Zi led him to expand his business into training cats.
That is easy for the little guys:
The largest living cat is Hercules, an adult male liger (lion x tigress hybrid) currently housed at Myrtle Beach Safari, a wildlife reserve in South Carolina. Hercules is almost 11 foot long and stands four foot tall at the shoulder and weighs in at 922 pounds. Hercules eats around 30 pounds of meat every day, washed down with lots of water. His brother, Sinbad, is slightly taller, but is also lighter.
Gnarly jokes
People always tell me to wear a helmet while skateboarding…
I can’t even remember the last time I hit my head.
A family of mice were surprised by a big cat. Father Mouse jumped up and yelled, “Bow-wow!” The cat ran away. “What was that, Father?” asked Baby Mouse. “Well, son, that’s why it’s important to learn a second language.”
With a dog, you feed her, give her plenty of affection, take her for walks and he thinks, “Wow, this lady must be God.” With a cat however you feed her, you love her, you care for her and she thinks, “Wow, I must be a God.”
I lost my skateboard when I fell off and couldn’t find it,
then it hit me.
