Saved by the humans
A Japanese cat miraculously survived for a month in the scorching summer heat after being abandoned by its owner in her apartment. A Japanese animal protection organization, “Animal Rescue Tanpopo,” found the cat in an empty flat in Osaka. The flat’s floor was covered with empty alcohol cans, rubbish and leftover food. “Miracle” got her name from the vet’s trying to save her. The person in charge of the animal rescue group, Chiaki Honda, said she thought the cat was dead when she found it beside the toilet. Miracle survived by drinking water from the toilet and eating leftovers. After realizing the animal had just passed out, they immediately sent it to hospital, and provided meticulous care to help it recover. In the beginning, Miracle was extremely aggressive, and injuries to the animal’s head and legs suggested it had also suffered from abuse. The police arrested Miracle’s former owner. She left Miracle in the flat as indoor temperatures reached 104 degrees, without any cat food provided, for over a month.
After loving care from animal carers, Miracle was back on its feet and alert. Miracle could also get aggressive while being treated, and might be rejected by vets if adopted by an ordinary owner. More importantly, the group said Miracle calmed down and enjoyed the company of another cat in its care.
Smart Dog – Nice People
An animal lover in Turkey rescued a sick puppy off the streets. The good Samaritan brought the half-dead dog to a veterinary clinic, telling them it was the only surviving puppy of its litter. That, however, wasn’t quite correct. Soon afterward, the clinic’s staff noticed something incredible in the clinic’s surveillance cameras. At the front door of the clinic stood a ragged-looking stray dog. In its mouth, it was holding another half-dead puppy. It turned out that the dog was the mother of both puppies. It must’ve seen one of her still-living sick babies being taken to the vet and decided to bring her other puppy in as well.
Turns out that the mother of the unfortunate litter had simply hidden herself, watching as one of her puppies was carried off. It appears the mother dog scooped her dying puppy in her mouth and followed the trail of her other baby down to the vet clinic. That’s how the clinic staff found the mother standing at their door, hoping the nice people would help both of her puppies. Of course, that’s just what the vets did. In the video below the vet staff took the second puppy in as well, and not a moment too soon. It had barely a heartbeat left and was pretty much ice-cold. As the vet staff took the puppy, the mother dog followed them into the clinic. She kept a watchful eye on the staff as they tended to her babies. While the puppies’ treatment was ongoing, other staff members checked the mother’s condition. She wasn’t sick, but she was so underfed that she couldn’t produce enough milk for her litter, which sadly spelled doom for most of them. Fortunately, the two puppies taken to the vet clinic pushed through. After receiving medical care and being fed formula, the two — and their mother — are now fine.

A friend of mine is a minister with a Ph.D. He was testifying before the state legislature. Each day as he went in and out of the hearings he was besieged by reporters. One morning, he was approached by a reporter and confronted with: “Doctor just exactly what is your degree in?”
The minister, nose to nose with the reporter answered, “I am a veterinarian and you do not look very well today.”
Every Sunday morning a little old lady places $1,000 in the donation box at church. After a few weeks the Priest, overcome with curiosity, approaches her.
“Mrs. Smythe, I couldn’t help but notice that you put $1,000 a week in the donation box.’”
“Why yes,” she replied, “every week my daughter sends me money, and what I don’t need I give to the church.”
“That’s wonderful, how much does she send you?”
“At least $2,000 a week.”
“And what does she do for a living?”
“She is a veterinarian,” she answers.
“That is a very good profession. Where does she practice?”
“Well,” says the old lady, “She has a cat house in Chicago, and another one in Dallas.”
