Aqua thief steals Disney lunch
The Paddlefish restaurant is a repurposed steamboat that floats on a manmade lake on the Disneyland grounds. It was midnight Monday last week and the crew on the steamboat restaurant had closed up shop. There was just a small crew left to shut down all the equipment and sanitize that whole place. Somehow an alien looking stranger came into the restaurant, in the middle of the lake. It was later determined the thief had swum under the boat and came up on the dark side in a wet suit complete with googles and head covering. Being a pro, he had cased the place and brought black spray paint to blind the security cameras while his head was covered and masked. He was described as slim and wore tight black clothing and a blue beanie, wearing goggles, and rubber gloves. Restaurant employees said he appeared to be about 5’10” tall.
He stashed his wetsuit and scuba gear before he walked into the manager’s office as the night’s cash was being counted and deposited into a safe, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect forced two employees to go into a corner of the room, tied them up and told them to close their eyes, law enforcement sources told the outlet. Police said that the suspect, who didn’t wield any weapons during the robbery. Within two minutes, the thief was gone, taking between $10,000 and $20,000 with him, according to charging documents. Investigators believe he put back on the scuba gear and wetsuit and jumped back into the pond after grabbing the money. The workers, who were unharmed, told detectives that the man was gone within a couple of minutes. After he left, employees, who were not injured, were able to free themselves and call police — but the suspect is still at large. Police believe the suspect swam away with the cash after the robbery.
The restaurant, which is a popular tourist attraction for Disney guests, opened as normal to guests at noon on Tuesday. There was no increased security presence at the Disney World property. Paddlefish is continuing business as usual as the investigation is ongoing.
One thing that’s not de-bait-able — more magical things have certainly happened at Disney!
Disney Diversions
When Disneyland celebrated its 40th anniversary, Disney officials buried a time capsule. They say it will be dug up in 50 years or when the last person in line at Space Mountain gets to the front. Whichever comes first.
What do Venezuela and Disneyland have in common?
Long food lines.
Disneyland News: Prince finds random corpse in woods and kisses it.
When we were talking about my upcoming trip to Disneyland, one of my coworkers said she would love to live there. Just imagine living in a castle and being awakened every morning by the kiss of a handsome prince. I smiled and shrugged saying this happens to my wife every morning. “Every morning,” she questioned, “and you allow it?”
