Arachno Rescue
Hollie Hunter, 30, was alone in her Scotland apartment when it happened. Before the actual attack she had a warning. Hollie said: “I’d just spent 40 minutes getting rid of a moth to then come back into my bedroom.” Then it got worse, Hollie saw the real culprit, a giant spider almost as big as the moth and it was coming for her from under the bed. “I’d honestly say it was the size of the palm of my hand. I was launching books at it, and when it ran towards me, I screamed and started running to different rooms. I think I was screaming and crying and making such a racket that my neighbor thought I was being attacked.” Neighbors heard her screaming just before 10.30 pm on Monday and called the emergency number. The next thing she remembers someone was pounding on her apartment door. Hollie said: “I looked through the peephole and five policemen were standing there. I opened my door, and before they could say anything I just cried: ‘I’m so sorry there’s a spider under my bed and I’m petrified.” The perplexed officers asked if there was anyone else in the flat. Hollie told them: “No, just me and the spider.” Police then turned the mattress upside down in a bid to hunt out the critter. Hollie said: ‘While they still had my bed in the air, the spider strolled out into the hall. One of the officers picked it up with his bare hand and took it outside with him — not without laughing at me. It was crawling about his arm as he was walking out the door.”
Hollie was lucky, police in England have slammed a woman who called the emergency line to ask the department to get rid of a spider for her. West Yorkshire Police posted an audio clip in which the woman could be heard asking the call operator to get someone to remove the “massive” insect out of her house. In the report, the cops said that this is just one example of an “Inappropriate Call.” In the audio clip, the woman could be heard saying, “Hiya, you’re probably gonna go mad at me right but I’ve literally tried ringing everyone and you’re my last hope. I need someone to come and get this spider out of my house. It’s absolutely massive and I’m not even joking.” The emergency call operator then responded by saying, “Unfortunately the police wouldn’t be able to come and get a spider out of your house.”
But wait there is more… A woman in Syracuse, IN, taking her 9-year-old son to school was backing out of the driveway when a spider landed on her shoulder. The mother was so scared she jumped from the moving car and ran. Left behind was the woman’s nine-year-old child. The boy jumped into the front seat to try to hit the brake, but hit the accelerator instead. The car sped up and rammed into a waiting school bus at the end of the driveway tearing up the back of the car pretty badly. The boy suffered minor injuries. There were no children on the bus.
Arachnafunnies:
I saw a spider on my computer keyboard earlier, but not to worry. It’s under Ctrl.
A Florida man tattooed a spider on his face in an attempt to overcome his arachnophobia, which is a fear of spiders. The tattoo should also help him overcome his fear of employment.
Dear ladies, without men the world would be run by giant spiders.
Dear spiders, if I see you outside, I will let you live.
But if I see you in my house, I will kill you. You choose.
