Blue runs for help

Brandon Garrett was driving with his four dogs to meet his family at a remote Oregon campsite on Sunday evening when he failed to navigate a turn in Baker county. The accident left him stranded and forced him to wait – and hope – for help. He crashed off an embankment of a U.S. Forest Service road and rolled down a 60 foot hill. He was able to crawl about 100 yards away from the crash site with his four dogs and remained there overnight. Brandon sent one of his dogs, “Blue” from the crash site. Blue ran about four miles to the campsite, alerting family members that something was wrong. The family found Garrett’s vehicle and alerted Baker County police around Monday morning.

According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook post, they were alerted about it the Monday about 9:30. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle involved was a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500. A press release issued on Facebook confirmed that the crash was a result of a “[failure] to negotiate a curve. During the crash, the vehicle dropped approximately 60 feet and rolled at least once upon impact, sustained damage consistent with being in a rollover crash.”

U.S. Forest Service employees used chainsaws to clear a path through the vegetation for search and rescue teams, who set up a complex rope system spanning from one side of the ravine to the other. Once they were able to reach the man, authorities put him in a rescue stretcher and hooked it onto the ropes, which were then used as a pulley system to transport him to the other side of the ravine as a stream raged below. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Garrett is out of the hospital and recovering. And don’t worry—the other three dogs were found alive at the crash scene.

Lassie laughs

A poodle and a collie are walking together when the poodle suddenly unloads on his friend. “My life is a mess,” he says.
“My owner is mean, my girlfriend ran away with a schnauzer and I’m as jittery as a cat.” “Why don’t you go see a psychiatrist?” suggests the collie. “I can’t,” says the poodle. “I’m not allowed on the couch.”

Everyone clapped when the boy was rescued from the well.
But I’m waiting to see if he found my phone.

I’ve finally taught my dog to fetch a glass of red wine.
He’s a Bordeaux Collie…
And yes, he paws it himself.

Q: What do Saint Bernards do as their final test at rescue school?
A: They get their masters.
