Natalie Curtis, of Queensland, AU was flying the low-cost Australian airline Jetstar from Townsville to Bangkok with a stop in Singapore. Natalie has been in a wheelchair since high school and was traveling with Natasha Elford as Natalie needs to have a wheelchair to get around. Natalie told the channel 7’s breakfast show, “Sunrise,” that she was offered a standard aisle wheelchair to board in Singapore, but was told when she arrived in Thailand that she’d have to pay to use another chair to get off. “When we arrived, they were asking us to actually pay and I didn’t really comprehend it, and I’m like, ‘No, I’m not paying to be able to get off this plane,’” She acknowledged that a language barrier between her and employees may have led to the incident. Natalie had her own wheelchair in the plane’s cargo hold, but it would not fit in the airplane aisle. Natalie said the only option left was to crawl on the floor for eight rows until she could reach her own wheelchair on the Jetway.
“They all just stood around for a while and the option that was left was for me to get on the floor and crawl.” Travel companion Natasha Elford, who recorded her friend crawling down the aisle, said she wanted to carry the woman herself, but could not due to a knee injury. “I just felt really sorry for Natalie … I just felt really hopeless and I’m like, ‘I just can’t believe this is really happening.” Airline workers were apparently informed that an aisle wheelchair was unavailable for at least 40 minutes after the plane arrived in Bangkok, according to 7NEWS. The staff could have lifted and carried her, but that would have opened them to a liability suit if she was dropped. The nation’s budget airline has endured months of criticism over widespread flight cancellations, delays and staff shortages. “Jetstar unreservedly apologizes to Ms. Curtis for her recent experience while traveling with us,” the spokesperson told 7NEWS. “We are committed to providing a safe and comfortable travel experience for all our customers, including those requiring specific assistance,” the rep said.

A passenger was travelling on holiday on a budget airline.
“Would you like dinner?” the cabin crew asked.
“What are my choices?”
“Yes or no.”
A young couple are trying to save money on their summer vacation. They bring their bags to the discount airline desk to check in.
“Do you have reservations?” asks the woman behind the counter.
“More than a few,” the young man answered, “but we’re flying with you guys anyway.”
What’s the difference between Game of Thrones and Jetstar?
One has dragons and the other has drag-offs.
My seatmate on a flight was a woman. Ever the charmer, I asked, “Does the airline charge you extra for sitting next to good-looking men?” “Yes,” she said, “but I wasn’t willing to pay.”
