Dairy farmers in the Tyrol district of Austria are upset. Some dastardly person has been stealing the bells right off the necks of their cows. Many of the farmers put cows out to pasture for weeks or months at a time in the mountains and the bells are sign of class for the animal and the farm. While the total dollar value of the bells is not high it is the emotional insult frustrates the owners. Police suspect one collector is doing all the noisy deeds. Some cows report fewer headaches with the quiet after losing the bells.
