Lucky Cats
“Shifu” a cat in Bangkok, Thailand, miraculously survived after falling from a six-story building and crashing into a car’s rear window parked below. Shifu was being kept by a woman who had adopted the cat for company and to “help him lose weight.” The cat had been walking along its owner’s balcony wall when it slipped and plunged from the sixth floor of the building. Perhaps part of the reason that Shifu fell is that the apartment building had banned all pets so the railing was not made to protect animals. When Shifu hit bottom, he hit the back window of a car. Shifu was then taken to the vet and found to have a few bruises, two broken claws, and a swollen nose – but no life-threatening injuries. 8 lives left now.
The owner of the car, Apiwat Toyothaka, shared a picture of Shifu and his car with a broken rear window on May 27. He wrote, ”The condominium manager called me at 7 am and told me that a cat fell on my car. I was confused about the matter. It was just a cat falling on my car. However, that cat weighed 20 pounds and broke the window of my car. Ok, I got it now.” The car owner also saw the cat’s owner cradling it in her arms. Despite the damage to his car, Mr. Toyothak said that he was not angry because the accident wasn’t intended. He later also updated the condition of Shifu to his followers and his friends after many were worried about the cat. The woman owner was fined about $300 for not protecting the cat. Shifu was lucky to be alive and given to a ground based family.
But wait there is more! You may have heard there is war going on in Ukraine. All that shooting and bombing kills cats too. But a lucky group of 32 cats have been rescued from the war zone, flown to Washington DC and Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Sue Bell, the group spokesperson, explained that all the cats are spayed, neutered and chipped and up to date with US shots ready for adoption. “Right now, Homeward Trails is the only organization taking cats from this new Ukraine shelter. And so, for every cat that we took from the shelter, that not only gave that cat an opportunity for a home, but it created a space in that shelter for the team to go out there and bring more cats in,” Bell said. Sue said she hopes to continue making lucky cats from the shelter in Ukraine, taking more cats off the war-torn streets.
Good luck
The word ‘homeowner’ has the word ‘meow’ in it.
Good luck pronouncing it correctly ever again..
In my last failed relationship, I was always there for her and she dumped me. I said: “Remember when your grandmother died? I was there. Remember when you flunked out of school? I was there. Remember when you lost your job? I was there.” She said, “I know, you are bad luck.”
I went to the sporting goods store to buy a jogging suit for my wife who was an avid jogger. Not knowing the size I explained she is five feet seven inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds. The lady clerk proposed. “Maybe something in a size ten.” I said that sounded pretty big to me. She called out to a lady clerk across the store, “What would you call a gal that is 5′ 7” and 115 pounds? “Lucky” came the reply.
He wrecked his car, he lost his job, he was a drinker, he lived paycheck to paycheck and throughout his entire life he handled his troubles like a man – he blamed his wife.
