Nice to meet you
Tia and Susan had worked in the same IT department in the Children’s hospital in Atlanta. They knew of each other, but were not friends. Ironically both of them had similar medical situations at home, both their husbands needed kidney transplants. Tia was a possible emergency donor for her husband, but was not considered a good match. Susan’s husband had been on the waiting list for a while after a kidney donated by his mother was rejected by his body. Because of his relatively rare AB blood type he was not getting any offers. Both men knew the clock was running on their lives without functioning kidneys. One day both Tia and Susan were in the lady’s room at work and they just started talking about their lives. They were amazed that both of them, even of different races, had the same challenges at home.
As they shared their concerns about the lack of kidney donors and the matching challenges, they shared their own blood types. While Susan was type O, Tia was AB. Then the light went on. Both women immediately understood and agreed about the solution to their stress and their husband’s health. They went to the organ bank to get the detailed blood analysis to see if each one could donate a kidney to the other one’s husband. It worked and both the husbands got the donated kidney from the other guy’s wife. The four surgeries, which took about four hours each followed in the next couple of weeks. Both the kidneys” took” in the guy’s bodies and they were able to be up and back to work without dialysis three times per week. The surgeries took place at the Piedmont kidney center in Atlanta. The Doc’s and the nurses were very much amazed that these two women could find each other while hundreds of people wait months or years in hopes of a donor that matches. This was the first time the Doctor has ever seen two pairs of willing donors find each other and then be medically compatible.
Matching Humor
The surgeon tells a patient who needs a heart transplant, “You are in luck, we have two matching donors. A twenty-year-old athlete and an 80 year old lawyer, which heart do you want?” The patient answers, “Give me the lawyer’s heart, that one hasn’t been used yet.”
Matching socks is like long division
There always seems to be a remainder.
This girl on Tinder asked me why I have an unlit cigarette in my picture.
I told her that I am looking for matches.
What’s the difference between awkward and awful?
Awkward is finding your mom on Tinder, awful is matching with her.
