Part time bus driver
Dillon Reeves is a seventh grader in middle school in Warren, Michigan, but he does not look like a super hero. Actually he looks almost like a 1950’s, 14-year-old, very neat and put together. It turned out to be very good for folks that Dillon is the kind of quiet guy that pays attention to everything around him instead of being hyper-socially active. This was demonstrated because he noticed his school bus driver seemed to be out of sorts when they got on the bus for the ride home. Allegedly, Dillon was keeping an eye on her from his seat during the ride home on Detroit city streets. As he watched, the woman driver seems to be zoning out and drooping her head as you can see in the video below. Then she completely passed out while the bus was moving toward an intersection.
It was a typical school day for the family, Dillon’s dad, Steve Reeves was preparing dinner and his wife was waiting for Dillon to come home. Once she saw other kids running to the park after the bus dropped them off, it clicked something was unusual. She went up to the park and saw the intersection full of flashing lights and fire trucks where the incident occurred. By the time she told her husband, the police were already calling to tell how their son was a hero.
On the rolling bus: Dillon jumped up and stumped on the brake of the bus as it rolled along and tried to put the transmission in park with no success, so he had the presence of mind to turn the key off and the bus stopped the middle of street, but it did not roll into the intersection. Once he got the bus stopped, he yelled to the screaming junior high kids to call 911. They did and rescue and police came to get the woman out of the bus and to a local hospital. Dillon has been celebrated as a Detroit wide hero on TV and in the school. He is pretty embarrassed by all the attention. His mom and Dad are very proud of him as they should be and the school district wants you to know that he is an example of all their great work as well. Part of the attention Dillon got after the adventure was to be honored by the Warren fire department in a firefighter outfit complete with helmet and an ax.
Traveling humor
I didn’t like being a bus driver. I was convinced people were talking behind my back.
Two blondes wait at a bus stop.
A bus pulls up and opens the door. One of the blondes leans inside and asks the driver,
“Will this bus take me to 5th Avenue?”
The bus driver shakes his head and says, “No, I’m sorry.”
The other blonde leans inside and asks, “How about me?”
The cable car was already crowded when the very fat woman entered. She stood for a moment glaring at the seated passengers. “Isn’t some gentlemen going to offer me a seat?” she asked. At this, one exceptionally small man rose. “Well,” he said rather shyly, “I’m willing to make a contribution.”
After picking up some passengers, an argument about race broke out. Most of the passengers on the bus are getting involved and after twenty minutes of bickering the driver, tired of the argument, slams on the brakes and stops in the middle of the street. Everyone shuts up. He stands up and shouts at them, “I’m TIRED of this. I’m an old man and I can’t bear to listen to this arguing anymore. From now on, there’s no black, there’s no white, got it? We’re all the same color. We’re all green. Now everyone shut up and sit down, dark green in back, light green in front.”
