Rescue me, Woof

A devoted cat lover followed his runaway pet in Tulsa OK. We do not know if the cat was in a bad mood or just enjoying the thrill of the chase, but it decided to start climbing a tree. Undeterred the devoted owner climbed the tree begging the kitty to come back home. It seemed like the right thing to do in the heat of the moment, but pretty quickly the man recognized the branches were better suited to cats than people. Not only was the support getting pretty shaky, but looking down was a lot scarier than looking up during the chase. One of the neighbors was entertained by the saga and when the adventurous man sat in a fork in the tree the neighbor asked him if he was OK. At the point the owner admitted defeat as the cat watched both of them from a safe distance out on a branch.

The entertained neighbor called the Tulsa fire department. They responded with a hydraulic ladder truck and were able to help the owner climb down the long extended ladder to the fire truck and then grab the runaway cat as well. So we all have heard of cats climbing trees and hanging out petulantly up there taunting their owners. Here is a little different scenario. Izzy was Christina Danner’s dog who liked to chase squirrels. The adorable pit bull-husky mix hadn’t caught any, but the thrill was in the chase. He climbed up into a tree while chasing a squirrel, though Danner noted never catching it. Commenting on the event, Christina explained: “He was the runt of the litter. He did not learn his lesson. He’s been whining all morning trying to get out and get that squirrel.” She said the dog was never close in his pursuit of the swift-footed rodent but kept “pacing” trying to search for it. In his dogged chase of the squirrel Izzy ended up climbing pretty close to the top of a neighborhood tree. Then Izzy realized he did not know how to get back down. Christina ended up calling the Caldwell, ID fire department who had a ladder that allowed them to carry Izzy back to Terra Firma. Hopefully, wiser for the experience.

Riotous Rescues

A word of warning if you are thinking of getting a rescue cat.
My nan had a rescue cat. The other day she slipped and fell over.
The so called “rescue” cat just sat there and did nothing!

What award do you give a firefighter?
Most extinguished.

Orphanages are kind of like animal shelters for children.
Though, I wish my parents would stop introducing me as their “rescue.”

A Dublin bar is burning and a team of firefighters rush in to put out the fire. When they get inside, they see an Irishman passed out from smoke inhalation. They drag him out of the bar and eventually the Irishman comes to. The firefighter asks, “You were there, how did this whole thing get started?” The Irishman responds “I don’t know it was burning when I came in.”
