Who you gonna call?

Forget saving cats out of trees: for the first time ever, the Austin Fire Department rescued a squirrel from inside a tree. AFD firefighters Steve Slaughter and Shane Burton were given the task of getting a squirrel out of a knothole in a tree Thursday morning. “The caller was very concerned as the squirrel had apparently been there for some time; left unaided, he surely would have died a slow and unpleasant death, either from starvation, the elements, or a predator,” the agency added. This squirrel rescue is likely the first time they have “literally gotten an animal OUT of a tree.” After a bit of massaging, wriggling, and turning, the squirrel broke free of the tree and scampered off quickly. “We’re always going to be there to come to the rescue of those who need it, whether they’ve got two legs or four,” Both firefighters were able to leave the scene with a job well done and a smile on their faces.

Humor to the rescue

A woman was telling friends how her first eight classes had prepared her for an emergency. “I saw woman hit by a car, she said the woman had a broken arm, a twisted knee and a skull fracture.” “How horrible. What did you do?” “Thanks to my first aid training, I knew just how to handle it. I sat on the curb and put my head between my knees to keep from fainting.”

Toward the end of their senior year in high school, students were required to take a CPR course. The classes used the well-known mannequin victim, “Rescue Annie,” to practice. Rescue Anne was legless to allow for storage in a carrying case. The class went off in groups to practice. As instructed, one of the students gently shook the doll and asked, “Are you all right?” He then put his ear over the mannequin’s mouth to listen for breathing. Suddenly, the student turned to the instructor and exclaimed, “She says she can’t feel her legs!”

To the lady at Costco with her son on a leash.
I’m sorry that I asked if he was a “rescue.”

Survival tip!
When ever my son goes snowboarding, I make him stuff brat’s in his pockets…
So the rescue dogs will find him first!
