Ground hog day – A new cast:
Punxsutawney is a small-town Northeast of Pittsburgh in the low mountains of western Pennsylvania. While the other 360 days of the year life is mostly about farming and country life for the five days through February second the place goes wild. All kinds of visitors and media arrive and the stores and restaurants particularly make as much money as they will the rest of the year. But not all Ground hogs are your friend. Ask Jeff Permar a Middletown, DE gardener wanted to grow his own food in his own garden. One day, Jeff noticed that his precious produce was being abused. The fruit was being carried away or being bitten and abandoned. Determined to catch the culprit, Jeff set up a trail camera in his garden. “Then while I was at work, I got a notification on my phone and out pops up this groundhog and it was the cutest thing ever, staring into the camera, through your soul with so much swagger,” explained Jeff , who was amazed by the garden squatter. He captured a picture of the culprit, a ground hog. Jeff initially tried various methods to keep “Chunk” away, including raising the height of the fence and placing logs around it to prevent digging. Being an organic guy he did not want to leg trap or poison the critter. However, Chunk’s determination and charm won him over, and Jeff decided to embrace his presence.
As Jeff delved deeper into the mystery, he realized that the thief was not just any groundhog, but a charismatic creature with a flair for the camera. This groundhog, who earned the affectionate nickname “Chunk,” seemed to enjoy his moments of fame. Typically, he stands boldly in front of the camera, munching leisurely and defiantly on the stolen bounty. As time went by, Jeff’s initial frustration transformed into a deep affection for Chunk and his family. Through his daily adventures, Chunk has brought joy and laughter to people around the world, proving that sometimes, the simplest stories can have the most profound impact. He never expected Chunk’s fame to soar like it has — one day, gifts for the viral woodchucks began showing up on Permar’s doorstep. The Chunks’ picnic table, he said, was gifted by a woman who makes miniature tables. Jeff even plans to build a separate special garden for the groundhogs next year, acknowledging that they, too, have a right to enjoy the land.

Has anyone played that weird Mexican carnival game where groundhogs pop out of holes and you have to smear them with avocado?
