Car troubles
Nearly everyone has a car and they are great when they run and do what they a supposed to do, but sometimes the craziest things happen to even the most normal cars around: A building inspector in Neenah Wisconsin came out to his city car in the department lot and found a big dent in the hood. It looked like an elephant had sat on it. He checked the other cars in the lot to see if a vandal had struck, but there did not seem to be any other damaged cars around. Why were they out to get him? Then he noticed a big carp lying a few feet away from the damaged vehicle on the pavement. The investigating police theorized that the damage to the hood was caused by an eagle or another large bird dropping the fish from high up. “It had to have come from way far up—it’s crazy.” It is possible the bird responsible was a bald eagle, who are known to eat carp and are capable of carrying relatively large fish. “I walked into work and now I have this irrational fear that I’m going to get hit by a fish, but maybe it’s not irrational.” “It is kind of funny because as it went around City Hall, people were saying that the same thing happened at High Cliff Park last summer. I think it’s more common than we think.”
Police officers in San Francisco recently lit up and pulled over a self-driving Chevrolet Bolt that was driving at night with its headlights off. The officer approached the vehicle and looked confused when he found no driver in the car. Bewildered, the cop tried the car’s door before starting to walk back to his patrol car. But as soon as he turned his back, the Cruise car takes off. The driverless car rolls through an intersection at a speed that makes it seem like it’s trying to get away. But once it passes the intersection, it comes to as top and activates its emergency blinkers. The patrol car followed the Cruise vehicle, and two officers get out this time. As they inspect the car, they seem genuinely puzzled by what’s going on with it. As they walk around the car, one of the officers appears to be talking on his phone. “Can we arrest an empty car? Over.” Although it seems like the driverless car was trying to escape from the cops. Cruise spokespeople said the car did exactly what it was supposed to. “Our AV yielded to the police vehicle, then pulled over to the nearest safe location for the traffic stop, as intended,” Cruise said. The company added that the officers didn’t issue any citations for the car. Cruise claims cops can call its “escalation team.” “The team can do various tasks on the car remotely to resolve any problems.” Supposedly Cruise cars have microphones that will identify sirens and cause the self-driving car to act appropriately.
A recent hit-and-run crash in Northern California left quite an impression. After allegedly rear-ending his Ford F-250 pickup truck into the back of a BMW sedan stopped at a red light on Roseville Parkway, the pickup driver fled the scene at a high speed. Roseville police said. The suspect wasn’t hard to track down. The collision proved so forceful that it left behind a clearly legible imprint of the Ford’s license plate number on the BMW’s plastic rear bumper. Officers responded to the address listed on the vehicle’s registration, where they located the pickup and arrested Demitry Mediucho. He was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in injury, felony hit-and-run and resisting arrest and booked into the South Placer Jail. Earlier the day of the crash Police had received a complaint about a Ford pickup being driven recklessly. It may not pay to sign your work.
