Escape from Discipline
Here is a heart-rending story about two children that probably watched too much television. You have to admire their courage (or naivete) and their skill at doing above their age/grade. No adults or animals were killed or injured in this story. Allegedly “Suzy” at 11 years old was very much addicted to her phone and iPad. Like so many, this was her window and social connection to the outside world. “Sam” her brother was sympathetic, but was more of “hands on” kind of a guy. Mom was frazzled being: the breadwinner, the care giver, the educator and discipliner. She did not have time for all those rolls, especially when she was competing with the always on, always sympathetic internet. After numerous talks and threats about behavior and schoolwork and housework it came to a boil. Mom took away their devices as she had threatened and Suzie was really, really angry.
Suzie convinced Sam the only way they could live was to escape from Mom and drive to California to go live with their divorced Dad. Sam was game, so one night last week after Mom got home with the car and after she had gone to bed, the Dynamic Duo sneaked out of the house in a reverse “Home Alone.” They did amazingly well for a few hours. Mom woke up though since the house was so quiet and looked for the children. They were gone. She checked outside and her car was gone. She freaked, not knowing what or who had been in the house and taken the children, she called North Port police. They took the information and put out an APB around 11:30. Four hours later they got a hit. It seems our intrepid juveniles had driven 200 miles North on I-75. A State trooper spotted the car on the freeway from the “Be on the lookout” and the license plate number. The car was following the flow of traffic and not creating any disturbance. The officers lit up the car and it pulled over and two police approached the car with guns drawn looking for a kidnapper. They were perplexed, relieved and confused when 10 year old Sam got out with his hands up.
The interactions the children had with the deputies did not lead them to believe that the children had been “mistreated by their parent or any other person within the home,” the department continued. Except for Mom stealing their phones. Detectives from the sheriff’s office said they also spoke with the mother, who was “clearly doing her best to raise two young children and she was very receptive to the recommendations they provided in helping her get assistance.” According to the sheriff’s office, the mother chose not to press charges, so the only criminal charge that could be brought against the kids is driving without a valid license. “This crime is a criminal traffic violation, and juvenile court will not accept charges for a misdemeanor criminal traffic offense,” they said.
Florida is for children
At this morning’s press conference, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the state of Florida will be outlawing the consumption and distribution of coffee.
He went on to condemn the beverage as a tool of the WOKE agenda.
I went to this restaurant on the beach in Florida and ordered something called the Pelican Burger.
It was good, but the bill was enormous.
Why are there so many rednecks in Florida?
Because sunscreen instructions include: “Apply liberally.”
What’s considered trashy if you’re poor but classy if you’re rich?
Florida.
