How safe was the baby?
A car thief found an SUV parked and running with the keys in it outside a neighborhood store. He jumped in and drove away only to discover there was a little child in the car seat behind him. He turned the car around and drove back to the store to chastise the absent mother in front of the store staff. The mother whined that she was parked only 15 feet from the store entrance and did nothing wrong, The conscientious car thief warned her that he could call police for child endangerment. Then he left the 4-year-old in the store and again left with the car. While police said the mother did nothing wrong, apparently she had more concern about her convenience than the safety of her child. The vehicle was found a few hours later in Portland. The principled suspect was said to be in his 20s with dark braided hair. The conscientious thief was wearing his multi-colored covid face mask though.
Take good care of the babies
My wife is such a pessimist! I remembered the stroller, the car seat, the high chair and the diaper bag. But all she talked about was that I forgot the baby.
It was Christmas time and the family was unpacking the decorations to put on and round the tree. Our three year old was unwrapping the porcelain statues for the nativity scene. He said, “Here is a king, and here is a donkey.” Then he got to the baby Jesus that was molded into the manger. Our son exclaimed, “Here is baby Jesus in his car seat.”
A mother was picking up her child from day care and waited a few minutes with some other mothers. One proud mother proclaimed her son was able to sit by himself at four months, that he crawled at six months and walked before he was a year old. She said now at 16 months he was talking in full sentences. The mother turned to another friend who was listening and asked if her 16 month old son was talking yet. The mother replied, “Andy doesn’t say much, he mainly texts us what he wants.”
Last Father’s Day my son gave me something I always wanted: the keys to my car.
