Christine Jia Xin Lee, 21, was living the dream at college in Australia. Her parents seemed to be sending her bank account unlimited amounts of money. The Malaysian resident went on a multi-million dollar spending spree for 11 months, stocking up on Hermes, Chanel and Dior products. An alert was triggered when she transferred $1.15 million to her PayPal account over 14 transactions in one day, according to the Brisbane Times. It turned out the bank had accidently transferred nearly $3.5 million to her account. She gave most of it back and avoided jail, but it was good while it lasted.
Money isn’t everything, but it sure keeps you in touch with your children.
