World record speed

A Guinness World Records title was set Saturday at Louisville’s Waterfront Park, where power technology company Rehlko mowed the area of an American football field in a riding mower in 14 minutes, 51 seconds. The record attempt happened at 3 p.m. on the “TurfMutt” sponsored Great Lawn, in front of a live public audience and under official Guinness World Records adjudication. Officials said the site was selected as part of the mower’s global “Cutting History” initiative, with record rules requiring grass to be maintained at a length of at least six inches. The run was completed by professional operator Hali Rieman, known as the “Lawn Queen,” using a mower powered by Rehlko’s Command PRO gasoline engine.

Hali, drove a mower provided by power technology company Rehlko to mow. Hali was selected through a nationwide program and will operate under official timing and adjudication conditions set by on-site GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicators. Official record requirements call for grass maintained at a minimum height of six inches to mirror unpredictable, high-load environments. “We’re excited about this event because it highlights why mowing matters. Mowing stimulates grass to grow, and growing turf works harder—sequestering more carbon, producing more oxygen, and delivering greater environmental benefits.” Real, living turfgrass also captures and filters rainwater, helps mitigate heat, and traps dust and particulate matter, making communities healthier and more resilient.

“The TurfMutt Great Lawn is one of our Louisville’s signature public gathering spaces, and this is a unique way to highlight what the space can support and the community that continues to show up for it. “Through our partnership with the TurfMutt Foundation, we continue to demonstrate that these managed landscapes are more than just grass — they are essential infrastructure for health and wellness, community connection and pride.”

Curious cuts

It’s important to look closely at those signs on lawns during election campaigns.
Last time I voted for a real estate agent.

What do you call the terms describing lawn ornaments?
Gnomenclature.

Son: Dad? Why is the sky blue?
Dad: Because if it was green, we wouldn’t know where to stop mowing.

Hung-over, I woke up to the sound of my neighbor mowing his lawn.
He’ll have to mow around me. I’m not moving.

I put an old lawn mower out on the street, with a “FREE” sign next to it.
Somebody came and took the sign, but left the mower.
Guess I should have been more specific.
