Disappearing Wizard’s Rock
Disappearing Wizard’s Rock
A 2000 pound boulder, suddenly vanished from its position along Highway 89 in the Prescott National Forest. The popular landmark was described as “a beautiful black boulder with white quartz running through it, was named the “Wizard rock” by the local Indians. The disappearance sparked national media attention and speculation about how the big rock vanished. Some of the native people were concerned that the rock’s disappearance was spiritually inspired and may have been a sign that evil events would follow. While threatened, no formal protests were started as their drums were out for repair. As stealthily as the rock disappeared, it reappeared about two weeks later and now the Area 51 folks are investigating.
