An unforgettable wedding

Brittany and Sean Tuohy of Arizona planned their wedding at a lodge on Washington’s Mount Spokane, hoping for photos full of lush foliage and crisp, autumn air. The pair grew up in Spokane and traveled  back home for the wedding. “My original plan was to take them up the mountain, where there would’ve been a million fall colors and trees. “The snowfall when I got to the mountain was night and day from what it was in town.” The photographer was initially worried, but when she arrived the wedding party was in good spirits, joking and laughing about their bad luck. “We all ran outside and just giggled and took photos as fast as we could. The the blizzard was so intense, we only got about 10 minutes worth of photos, but it was worth it!”

At a wedding reception, the groom’s grandfather stood up to make his toast. Having been married for 60 years, he wanted to pass on his secret to the newlyweds. The grandfather addressed the happy couple, saying “the tip to a happy and long lasting marriage is to beat your wife up every morning.” An uncomfortable silence followed. The grandfather continued, “Yes, I get up around 6:30 and she gets up around 8.”

Ah, marriage. I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror one evening admiring my reflection, when I posed this question to my wife of 30 years: “Will you still love me when I’m old, fat, and balding?”
She answered, “I do.”
As the music swelled during a recent wedding reception, my hopelessly romantic husband squeezed my hand, leaned in, and said, “You are better looking than half the women here.”

It may have been the most romantic statement ever uttered in our courthouse. In between hearings, a wedding was performed. As the newlyweds left the courtroom, the bride nestled up to the groom and cooed, “Isn’t it nice to be here when we’re not being convicted of something?”
