We are flying!
Sujata Narkar and Surekha Panikar tourists in the coastal town of Maharashtra, India were visiting Varsoli beach when they saw a few tourists parasailing and decided to experience it for themselves. Both of the women were strapped into life jackets and then into a dual harness beneath a colorful parachute. All this was done on the back of a moving boat. The video below (Enjoy the ride) shows the women getting lifted off the boat and dipped into the water a couple of times until the boat really sped up. When they were as high as the speeding boat could lift them, the rope towing them broke and the ride got really exciting. The women came down into the sea with parachute landing around them. Their life jackets kept them afloat until the crew from the tow boat quickly pulled them out of the water. Sadly tow ropes breaking are not that unusual and what goes up must come down. These ladies got a scary ride, but a soft landing and a story to tell. Their video has been watched millions of times, so it made them famous.
Jumping to a conclusion
I asked my parachute instructor what happens if it doesn’t open.
He said you’re jumping to a conclusion.
You don’t need a parachute to go skydiving.
You need a parachute to go skydiving twice.
The pilot said,
“We are having engine trouble. Who here believes in the power of prayer?”
One man rose to his feet and said, “I do!”
The pilot said, “That is good because we are one parachute short.”
