Caution! Lizards falling
The National Weather Service in Florida put out a bulletin that warned it would be “Cold with a chance of falling lizards.” It is winter in Florida and when the temperatures get close to freezing the lizards go dormant and often fall from the trees they hang out in. Usually once their body temperature goes back up, they resume their normal lizard life. Iguanas aren’t dangerous or aggressive to humans, but they damage seawalls, sidewalks, landscape foliage and can dig lengthy tunnels. The males can grow to 5 feet long and weigh nearly 20 pounds. They leave their feces anywhere and the population has been soaring. They are not a protected species.
