Marylou Ward, co-owner of a Port Charlotte, Florida home was sitting at home minding her own business during a thunderstorm when BOOM! She heard the noise, felt the house shake and heard the sound of falling debris. Investigating, she found her toilet had exploded. The plumber told her lightning had hit the septic tank in the yard and ignited the sewer gas present. The explosion blew off the metal tank cover, ruptured the sewer line from the house and shattered the toilet as you can see. The explosion took out some windows and embedded porcelain in some walls. A-1 Affordable Plumbing said this might be making plumbing history.
