Hong Kong’s has a feral cow epidemic with 1,100 wild cows that roam the city’s streets. Four of these cows decided the food was better in the supermarket and helped themselves to the produce section. Considering how often the cows are fed fruit, District Councilor Andy Wong, is concerned similar scenarios may occur in the future. Citizens in Hong Kong tolerate the wild animals. Lots of people think it’s annoying to have these cows roaming roads. They don’t understand that these  cows  used to eat and live here before the landscape was covered with concrete.

When my son was 5, I took him to my parent’s dormant dairy farm. He walked around in amazement at the big equipment and all the animal stuff. I tried to impress him that grandpa had to work very hard to make the farm work and get enough milk to sell. In the barn he asked what the big ladder going into the loft was for. I told him that was where Grandpa kept the hay to feed the cows. He looked at it for a minute and then said, “It must have been very hard for those cows to climb that ladder.”

A young city girl was vacationing in the country and became friendly with one of the farm boys. One evening as they strolled across the property they saw a cow and calf rubbing noses. The boy said, “The sight of that makes me want to do the same.” City girl responded, “Go ahead, it’s your cow.”

“The first case of mad cow disease since 2006 was discovered right here in the United States. The good news: Since the cow is in California, instead of putting the cow down they are going to enroll him in anger management classes.”
