That’s a lot of cabbage

An Australian couple said it took about nine months of careful maintenance to grow a huge cabbage nearly the size of a person. Rosemary Norwood and Sean Cadman, who operate The Forest Walks Lodge, an eco-tourism guesthouse in Tasmania, take pride in their natural vegetables. They started growing the cabbage in April and carefully kept it safe from wallabies and other garden thieves until late January. Norwood said she grows cabbage every year, but “It doesn’t always work out like this,” The cabbage was large enough to make two weeks’ worth of coleslaw, German rotkohl and salads for guesthouse visitors, about half the world record size of 138 pounds.

A Texan farmer goes to Australia for a vacation and while he’s there he meets an Aussie farmer. They get talking and the Aussie farmer shows off his big wheat field. The Texan is unimpressed and says, “We have wheat fields that are twice as large as that.” They walk around the ranch a little more, and then the Aussie shows off his herd of cattle. The Texan is again unimpressed and says, “We have longhorns that are at least twice as large as your cows.” The Texan sees a group of kangaroos hopping through the field. He asks, “And what are those?” The Aussie replies, “Don’t you have any grasshoppers in Texas?”
