Kit-Kat Krook

ZURICH – Twelve tons of KitKat chocolate bars went ‌missing in Europe last week ‌after thieves made off with the Italian tractor trailer truck transporting them. KitKat, which is made by Nestle, said the truck carrying 413,793 ‌bars of its new formula set off from central Italy to distribute the chocolate throughout Europe, but never reached its scheduled final destination in Poland. The vehicle and the merchandise remain unaccounted ‌for. Nestle did not reveal where exactly the truck was lost. In a separate statement, KitKat said the missing bars are traceable via a unique batch ‌code. Anyone scanning the batch numbers of the stolen chocolate would receive instructions on ‌how to contact KitKat. “While we appreciate the criminals’ exceptional taste, the fact remains that cargo theft is an escalating ‌issue for businesses of all sizes,” KitKat said.

The theft is now being investigated by Italy’s Carabinieri and the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of Bologna. News of the heist was only made public on Sunday. “We’ve always encouraged people to have a break with Kit Kat — but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally and made a break with more than 12 tons of our chocolate,” a spokesperson for Kit Kat said in the release. According to Nestlé, the candy bars were headed to a distribution site and set to be distributed throughout Europe at the time of the theft. The company said that the candy bars could be sold through unofficial channels in Europe, but it will be possible to track the stolen goods by scanning the unique batch code assigned to individual bars, per the press release. “With more sophisticated schemes being deployed on a regular basis, we have chosen to go public with our own experience in the hope that it raises awareness of an increasingly common criminal trend,” the statement added.

The candy brand noted to PEOPLE this incident pertains to a single shipment of KitKats, and that consumers are “requested to not attempt to locate, handle or recover any stolen goods and to not take any direct action.” “Any relevant information should be shared through the channel referred to above or with local law enforcement authorities,” the statement continued. If you find some of the stolen candy, be sure to wash your face and hands before calling the Carabinieri.

Creamy crunchy humor

There was a new machine at the gym…
After using it for 30 minutes, I felt sick. Maybe I got too many chocolate bars.

A man found a magic lamp on the beach. He rubbed it and out popped a genie, who gave the man three wishes. The man wished for a million dollars, and poof! There was a million dollars. Then he wished for a convertible, and poof! There was a convertible. And then, he wished he could be irresistible to all women… Poof! He turned into a box of chocolates.

The optimist sees the wafer, the pessimist sees the chocolate, and the realist sees the calories.

I didn’t know you could vape a chocolate bar until…
…my wife told me to stop inhaling them.
