A pipe dream gone bad

The Jacksonville sheriff’s office got a call Wednesday that some guys were driving down the freeway with a 25 foot aluminum light pole tied to the top of the car. A 911 caller saw “two white males, no shirts and several tattoos” putting a JEA light pole on top of their Kia.  Within a few minutes a deputy had lit up the SUV and pulled the guys over. When asked where they got the pole, one of the men told officials that he had to move the pole because it was on the ground so close to traffic lanes. The power pole was apparently removed from the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. “When asked why he did not just roll it further into the shoulder, he did not have an answer,” the report said. A Sheriff’s Office pawn shop database search showed Apeler had completed 73 pawn transactions this year, 72 of them scrap metal-related. Under arrest for grand theft are Blake Lee Waller and Victor Walter Apeler. The pole, valued at $2,500, was turned over to utility company JEA.

Shocking pole news:

The Sunday school teacher was telling the story of Lot’s wife who looked back while fleeing and was turned into pillar of salt. Little Johnny punctuated the story with, “My mother looked back once while she was driving and turned into a telephone pole.”

After a severe storm walloped our part of Kentucky my utility company sent us to the hardest hit area to get the power restored. I was picking up fallen wires when a car horn blared at me. “Hey,” I yelled at the driver. “Don’t you see all those red flags the “No Road” signs and the street barricades back there”? “Oh, yes,” he replied, “I got by them all right. It’s your truck that’s in the way now.”

An electrician finishes repairing some faulty wiring in an attorney’s home and hands him the bill.
“Four hundred dollars! For an hour’s work?” shouts the attorney. “That’s ridiculous! I’m an attorney and even I don’t charge that much.”
The electrician replies, “Funny, when I was an attorney, I didn’t either!”

What do you call it when a self driving Tesla crashes and wraps itself around a telephone pole?
A Tesla Coil
