He missed the point

John Szczecina, the manager of a Shell gas station in Rancho Cordova, CA admitted he made a mistake. His mistake cost Shell Oil around $16,000, but it made John and his station the talk of the town. John was resetting the station prices on the electronic signs and on the pumps from the inside the store. He set the price of gas to $6.99 on the sign, but when he got to the pumps, he missed the decimal point. So, the pumps were selling gas for $.699, not $6.99. This pleased a lot of grumpy customers, who then told their friends, and they told their friends. The station got a flood of business. “I put all three prices on there, except the diesel. The last one kind of didn’t go. So, I just took responsibility for it and said yeah, it’s my fault,” Szczecina told KFSN. According to CBS Sacramento, the gas was priced at 69 cents for three hours before the mistake was discovered. John was terminated for not paying attention and catching his mistake sooner. Amid his termination from the gas station, a GoFundMe was created to help Szczecina pay for the lost profit.  The GoFundMe claims John is fearful of being sued by the Shell Oil for the error. As of this writing, the GoFundMe page has reached just over $6,000 of its $16,000 goal.

The US national average price for gas is just over $5.05 per gallon, the average price for California drivers soared to $6.43 per gallon, according to AAA. The last time drivers were able to purchase gas for 69 cents was in 1978. The pain at the pump is actually much worse in other countries. Residents of Hong Kong pay the highest international gas prices, $10.97 per gallon. Norway has the second-highest gas prices at $9.64 per gallon, followed by Denmark at $9.32 per gallon. At the other end of the spectrum, Venezuelans pay just $0.08 for a gallon of gas. Libya and Iran also pay less than a dollar per gallon of gas, with petrol costing $0.12 and $0.20, respectively. The biggest factor driving prices at the pump is the amount of taxes and fees that countries place on gas, or the amount that countries subsidize gas prices. American gas prices are among the lowest in industrialized nations even with local, state and federal government taxes on fuel.

Feulish Humor

Gas prices are getting ridiculous
I went online to check the value of my car and it asked if the tank was empty or full.

President Biden announced his new fitness plan to get people walking again. It’s called
 “Gasoline at $8 a gallon.”

Had to stop at the gas station to fill my tires…
They raised the price to $1.50. I just can’t believe the cost of inflation these days.

Why do gas prices end with 9/10 of a penny?
It just makes cents.

Inflation is when you pay fifteen dollars for the ten-dollar haircut
you used to get for five dollars when you had hair.
