Detector’s good afternoon
After lunch at the Lindsey Rose pub in Lindsey, Suffolk, England, three buddies with metal detectors went out to the farm field in the back to enjoy their search hobby. Luke Mahoney, 40, discovered more than 1,000 silver coins dating back to the 15th to 17th Centuries. The coins may have been in a rotted leather bag. The most popular theory from experts is the coins were buried by a wealthy landowner who had gone off to fight in the Civil War. The father of three runs his own metal detector shop. Expert appraiser Nigel Mills estimated the coins could fetch up to $130,000 in an auction.
