Bear saves hiker from mountain lion

Robert Biggs is a 69-year-old man from Paradise, California. He regularly hikes the same trail and has encountered a mama bear and two cubs several times. Monday, he stopped along his regular route to watch the three of them playing in a field from about 40 feet away. While he was sitting on a rock watching, a mountain lion sneaked up behind him and jumped. The lion landed on his backpack and started clawing. Robert got knocked over and could only reach the climber’s pick he had on his belt to defend himself. He did hit the lion in the head with the pick, but it did not let go. As he tried to swing a second time at the lion on his back, a black blur crossed his field of vision. The 400 pound Momma bear grabbed the lion by the throat and a short fight ensued. The mountain lion ran away and the bear stopped to look at Robert for a few seconds and then went back to her cubs. “I’m 100-percent sure it did want to save my life,” he said. “We made eye contact. I’d seen the bears before and I know she knew who I was.”

Humorous Bear Necessities:

Q. What do you call a bear that likes to spend his summers at the north pole and his winters at the south pole?
A. A bi-polar bear.

Q: Why should the California State Golden Bears change their uniforms to Orange?
A: So they can play the game, direct traffic, and pick up trash without changing.

Polar bears in the Pittsburgh zoo received a $14 million domain renovation featuring a plush waterfall and running stream. Park officials expect a spike in ticket sales as well as a visit from Al Sharpton asking what facilities the black bears got.

A German, a Russian, and a Texan are camping and share stories about how tough they are. The German says, “I’ll go first. One time I was on a long hike across some mountains when I crossed paths with a mountain lion. It attacked me and I took it down with nothing but a hunting knife.”
The Russian chuckles and replies, “Is that of your best? Once I was of sipping vodka at camp in middle of winter when I hear large bear outside. I go wrestle the beast with only a walking stick.”
The German says, “Wow, that’s amazing! How tough are you Texan?”
They both look over at the Texan and he is stirring the fire with his bare hand.
