Stop..but not now
There was a good crowd at the Castles N’ Coasters on Saturday. Thrill seekers were excited to take the 360 degree ride on the Desert Storm roller coaster. It goes way up and down and around corners and even through spirals until… it stops. It stopped with 22 people on board. They were in the middle of a swirling turn and just stopped. They hung 20 feet above the ground hanging sideways on the safety harness of the cars. Firefighters set up what’s called a high-angle belay system to lower each rider down. Each person was put in a special harness with a collar to get them to the ground safely. Firefighters said it took about 90 minutes to get everyone to safety. No one was hurt. “It was scary because we didn’t go down one ladder. We had to jump from ladder to ladder,” Joseph said. When asked if he was going to ride a roller coaster again, he said, “Maybe.”

I thought my wife was joking when she said she’d leave me if I didn’t stop singing “I’m a Believer”…
