What is one more Marathon?

Angela Tortorice of Dallas said she never expected to become a marathon runner when she ran her very first race. She said then, “I’ll never do this again,” she recalled. “It’s surreal,” Tortorice, 54, said. “I’m just anxious to cross the finish line.” Angela began running when she was 28 years old “When I started running it was around the time my former husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and so I thought, I’ve got to do something to benefit my health,” Tortorice said. “It does just help you cope so much through difficult times.” Angela broke a Guinness World Record by running 129 marathons in a single year, 2013. “My vacation time is used for marathoning, it’s not used for anything else.” Tortorice, who has run at least five marathons in every U.S. state, said she will run her 1,000th race this weekend at the Irving Marathon in Texas. Completing the race would make her the first U.S. woman to reach the milestone 1000 number of marathons. Angela’s marathon running has thus far raised over $1 million for research into multiple sclerosis. She said she does not intend to stop running marathons after crossing her 1,000th finish line. The runner said her marathon habit is about more than merely breaking records. “Half of the running is the camaraderie, the people you meet along the way. If anything, it just helps you with your sanity during difficult times.” And next weekend, Tortorice plans to break her own record. She will run her 1,001st marathon. Now turn off the TV and get off the couch.

Running for laughs

I’d like to thank the girl with no sports bra, who ran next to me for the last few miles of
the marathon.
Your lack of support got me through the race.

24-year old Tai Jinhai came in first during the Beijing Marathon, but they gave the gold
medal to the son of a prominent party official instead.
To this day, the Chinese government refuses to acknowledge Tai won.

Wish me luck in the London Marathon today. I managed a respectable, 3 hours, 12
minutes, last year…
This year, I will try to beat that but, I usually get bored and end up turning over to watch
something else…

I’m like a cross between a marathon runner and a sprinter
I can jog short distances
