Bearly Delicious

Sharon Rosel of British Columbia has a food truck business. Like nearly every small business it is your 24 hours a day job. That means you: come, get, do, go, whenever you can. Sharon stopped on her way home one day after the truck closed at a supplier to pick up some food and materials for the food truck. Among the load in her SUV was 9 cases of pop and some paper products. Sharon lives in a pretty rural part of BC and they are used to seeing scavenging bears roaming especially at night and especially at this time of year because they are waking up from hibernation. So when bears have been sleeping for 5 months you can bet they are pretty hungry, but BC bears are still gourmet. Sharon and her family know all the rules of keeping your cars and garbage cans safe from bears and she followed the guidelines. “I’ve been around bears since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and I have never seen them go after pop,” said Rosel.

On April 13, Sharon was alerted by her hunting dog to a noise outside. It was almost 3 a.m., and a black bear was outside her Earls Cove home. The bear broke through one of the Suzuki’s windows with a noise that sounded “like a gunshot.” The bear climbed in and started pulling the cases of pop into the front seat and then opened the front door and brought the cans out on the driveway. Then methodically, he bit the cans and sucked the pop out and down his throat. From her balcony in British Columbia, Sharon Rosel watched as a black bear guzzled down 69 cans of soda. “He was drinking massive amounts of soda,” said Rosel. The bear first drank the orange soda, then the cola, and finally, root beer. The bear guzzled down 69 cans of soda, but abandoned the effort when he got to the diet pop. “I’ve been around bears since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, and I have never seen them go after pop,” Sharon told CBC.  Rosel’s efforts to reason with the bear to leave her car were futile.

The bear’s gourmet soda rush caused sticky syrup to be spilled on to the seats and the console. The bear also ripped the car’s leather interior and broke the window handle from standing on it. The bear also damaged the soft top. “Of course, white leather interior goes really good with orange Crush,” Sharon said sarcastically, noting that the bear also knocked over a pack of paper towels but didn’t even consider using them to clean up the mess. The bear came back the next night. “I don’t want to do anything that compromises the bears. I know they’ll move on if they don’t find a food source,” she said. Her dog scared it off during the bear’s second visit. The black bear’s antics were caught on security camera, the video which Sharon shared (below) so others could learn from her mistake. “Do not underestimate their sense of smell. We have to be bear aware. We have to live with them, and bears have memories.” Or only buy diet pop.

Jokes about picky people

I am very picky when it comes to women.
Unfortunately, women are pretty picky too.

Why are you so picky with words?
I’m not picky, I’m choosy.

Why is the blood bank doctor so picky about her dates?
She is a Type A.

“What am I supposed to do?” a young man looking to get married asked his friend. “Every girl that I bring home to meet my parents, my mother doesn’t like.” “Oh, that’s easy,” his buddy replied, “all you have to do is find someone just like your mother.”  “I did that already,” he said, “and that one my father didn’t like.”
