Back in 2004, Kellogg’s Korea launched a “President Election Event” to promote their chocolate Chex cereal. Even with election irregularities the Green onion candidate lost. Following the campaign, netizens voiced that the election was not fair and that they wanted green onion cereal to be released. After 16 long years, Kellogg’s Korea releasing the Green Onion Cereal. Priced at $4.98 Green Onion Cereal is available now exclusively in South Korea. The limited edition of the Chex cereal sold out within two days when it hit online stores, following years of almost ceaseless requests by enthusiasts. “We never expected consumers would be interested in this product for over 16 years,” said Kim Hee-yeon, a spokeswoman for Kellogg’s. “Every time we launched new cereals or had promotional events, online communities would repeatedly ask for the flavor.”
