What you mean, “Oops”

Arturo Ceja of Los Angeles wanted to sell fireworks. California and local ordinances forbid having much of the stuff Arturo could get and the street price for good stuff was astronomical. Being ambitious, Arturo found a wholesaler in neighboring Utah and brought truckloads of fireworks to his house. He even was making some of his own fireworks from components he bought. Somebody squealed and the police came and tried to seize his inventory. They hauled out about 32,000 pounds of fireworks. The ATF was called into assist and LA brought its big bomb truck to take away the homemade stuff which the agents felt was unstable. The homemade explosives were put in the “explosion proof” container on the back of the big bomb truck. They decided to trigger the stuff in the bomb truck to avoid it exploding while they drove through neighborhoods on the way to a dump site. The explosion totally destroyed the blast proof container and the bomb truck. It blew cars off the road and windows into the houses of the street setting several buildings on fire. While 17 people were injured by the blast it would have been far worse had the police not evacuated the neighborhood. Arturo is in custody and the evacuation order expires today.
