Though most dogs are good boys (or girls), they may not be aggressive enough to be Chinese policemen. A police academy in China’s northeastern Liaoning province is auctioning off dogs that failed their police dog training program. The auction will put 54 dogs up for sale. Most of the dogs are German Shepherds, though there are a few Dutch Shepherd hybrids and Belgian Malinois. A number of them were “timid,” “weak” or “frail.” Some “don’t bite,” others “lacked athletic ability” or showed “low ability” to fetch items. Those who win the dogs are required to sign an agreement to follow government regulations for raising and caring properly for the animals. Many online users expressed sympathy and amusement for the rejected dogs. “When bringing the dogs back home, please make sure not to tell your neighbors that they failed the test. Just imagine how you feel when your parents tell others that you failed your test when applying for higher schools.”
