One Bottle to go
If you are a big drinker here is a deal for you and part of the price might be tax deductible. The bottle, dubbed The Intrepid, contains 86 gallons of 32-year-old single-malt Scotch whisky from Macallan, one of the oldest and most renowned distilleries in Scotland that was bottled last year. The world’s largest bottle of Scotch whisky, a 32-year-old Macallan, is set to auction this month. The bottle, known as The Intrepid, stands at 5-feet 11-inches tall and it is set to be auctioned by Edinburgh-based auction house Lyon & Turnbull. It contains the equivalent of 444 standard bottles and it will be auctioned on May 25. Auctioneers said 25% of any amount over $1.6 million will be donated to the Marie Curie charity, which supports people with terminal illnesses. Colin Fraser, of Lyon & Turnbull – who will lead the auction, said, “I’m sure there will be significant global interest in the auction of The Intrepid, a unique collection spearheaded by the record-breaking bottling.
The whisky was matured in two sister casks in The Macallan’s Speyside warehouse for 32-years. The whisky has a smooth texture, and a sweet overall taste with some white pepper in the lengthy, warming finish and a suggestion of French apple tart in the aftertaste. Founded in 1824, The Macallan is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, and its bottles are among the most coveted by collectors. Last week, a cask of whisky left at Macallan’s warehouse for 33 years after its owner forgot to pick it up, sold for a record $1.3 million at auction. In February, Macallan released a rare 81-year-old single malt whisky, its oldest to date. Each decanter (of which only 288 were listed worldwide) has a suggested retail price of $125,000.
Scotch laughs
Paddy rode his bike to the bottle shop to get some whiskey. After choosing a bottle he walked out to his bike. He was just about to put the bottle in the basket on his bike for the ride home, but then he thought if I fall off it might break. So he drank it first… which turned out to be a very good decision because he fell off 7 times on the way home.
My great-grandfather started up an underground distillery during Prohibition.
It was a whiskey business.
Did you hear about the botched robbery on the liquor store?
They are still looking for the guy apparently, he got away scotch-free.
I doubt whiskey is the answer,
But it’s worth a shot.
